tech nightmares 1 hour before Go Time

Previously on The 25-Webinars-In-A-Row Story, you heard all about how I cleaned up my pitch and make 4 live sales!

(Compared to how earlier webinars had gone, this was pretty great. All the details about those results can be found here.)

On the morning of Monday, August 3, I started to prepare for webinar #9.

But something wasn't right . . .

All of a sudden, I couldn't get my slides to load.

Or the Ads Manager!

The minor Internet problems we'd dealt with over the weekend suddenly turned into a full on Internet outage! 🫣

Here's what's truly crazy about this situation:

Unhinged as it may be, WE HAVE TWO INTERNET PROVIDERS. And we pay for both!!!!!

My husband is also a business owner and sometimes works from home. He was insistent that we get this dual-provider set-up in case there was a big outage that impacted our neighborhood.

But I couldn't figure out how to get the second provider to take over when the first one was out!

I couldn't even figure out WHICH provider was the problem!!

It's 11am, one hour before Webinar Go Time. 😩

I texted my husband who was on his way home from the gym, and I called my mom to tell her I was coming over to do my webinar there.

(Not a great alternative at all. The lighting, the terrible desk chair....I was desperate to even consider doing it at my parents' house.)

I won't bore you with the details of HOW (I couldn't if I wanted to) but my husband walked in the door, set up an alternative hotspot for me so I didn't have to leave the house, and then ended up figuring out how to get the backup provider to actually provide.

Everything was fixed 10 mins before I went live.

So there was no practicing, no manifestation exercise. Just fingers crossed!

Here are the stats:

  • Spend: $2,970
  • Registrations: 160
  • Attended live: 72
  • Sales: 9!!!!!!!!!

I'm still floored by this outcome, Reader!

To be fair, one of those people was an extremely warm lead and had already told me she was interested in the offer.

But the 8 others?? Total strangers!

With the additional sale that came from the replay period, that week brought in $13,473 in revenue from a $3k spend. 9 weeks into this 25-week experiment.

I have NEVER stuck with something that failed or barely worked for this long. And I'm soooooooo glad I finally committed to it back in June.

We celebrated with Mexican that night. Watch a cute video of the toddler and his Internet-savior dad here.

"How do you decide how much to spend on the ad?"

Jen sent in this question after my last installment of the story.

My budget is not set by how much I WANT to spend, but rather on what I NEED to spend in order to get a certain number of people live on each webinar.

On my first 4 webinars in this series, I only had an average of 30 people show up live. Remember that "people who came live" is NOT how many people are still there for the pitch.

It's kind of a miracle that I made 2 sales on webinar #2 with only 21 people there live when I got to the part about the offer.

It got to a point where I prioritized getting more data about my conversion rate than profit or Return on Ad Spend.

In other words, I increased by spend to get more people there in the room, trusting myself to eventually convert these new subscribers either live or in future launches.

You'll see that for webinars #10 and on, my ad spend went up considerably.

If you have any other questions, hit reply and let me know what they are! I'll try to answer them in this series or on my podcast in the near future.

Talk more soon,

Claire

P.S. A lot of my current mastermind clients are also doing weekly webinars, and some of them have a higher ROI than I do! (But I'm still leading the pack in dollars spent. 🤑)

I'll be opening enrollment for the mastermind in November. Get on the waitlist with one click HERE!

I'm running the same webinar every week for 25 weeks. Same offer. Same price. Paid ads driving registrations the whole way. Every week I publish what actually happened. Ad spend, cost per lead, how many registered, how many showed, how many bought. The weeks that worked and the weeks that didn't. No polished case study at the end - just the receipts as I go.

If you haven't been following my story of 25 webinars in a row, you can catch up here. Last week I shared how my own ads stopped tracking correctly (a.k.a. I messed something up) and my cost-per-webinar sign-up went from $18 → $27! 🫣 My ROI that week was in the red by about $250. Despite that result, I didn't lower my spend or change anything about my webinar deck - I knew I needed more data about whether these more expensive leads were actually better quality. So here are the stats for...

If you haven't been following my story of 25 webinars in a row, you can catch up here. On webinar #9, I hit a sales record of 9 live sales! The post-webinar replay sequence brought in another sale, AND we got our first refund request that week. (Totally normal, and I can honestly say it didn't bother me.) One change I made to the webinar for the following week: Based on answers we got to a "why didn't you buy" email campaign, I tweaked the content a bit. Here's some feedback I got from that...

The 25-webinars-in-a-row story thus far: ☹️ So-so results in the beginning 💃 7 live sales on webinar #5 😩 2 weeks with barely any sales (More details about those results can be found here.) In case you missed last week's update about my spiral post webinar #7 with only 1 live sale, I reached the turning point when my coach showed me the ups and downs of her own conversion rates. (Plus I got 2 sales on the replay, so that helped my mindset a lot!) Monday came around again, and it was time for...
